Setting Up a bxohio.net E-mail Account Due to the wide variety of e-mail
programs available today, it is impossible to provide explicit directions for each program in
setting up an e-mail account with us. However, we can provide the required information,
as well as specific instructions for a couple of the most widely used e-mail PLEASE NOTE: E-mail addresses are available free of charge to our members through our system. However, you must contact us to request that a mailbox be set up for you first! |

slightly different, but they should be close enough to work with. |

Type in your name as you would like it to appear in the messages you send (I.E. John Doe). Click on the Next button. |

Type in your e-mail address. Your e-mail address will have been assigned to you when the mailbox was first requested. Typically, this will be your first initial and last name followed by the domain name, something like jdoe@bxohio.net. Click on the Next button. |

The incoming e-mail server should default to POP3. If it is set to something else, click on the drop-down box and select POP3. The incoming and outgoing mail servers should both be set to mail.bxohio.net. Click on the Next button. |

Log On Using: should be selected. The POP Account Name will be your FULL E-MAIL ADDRESS! Click on the Next button. |

Click on the Finish button here. However, you aren't quite done setting up. There is one more setting that has to be changed. |

On the Mail tab, make sure that you've selected the new e-mail account and click on the Properties button. | |

Select the Servers tab, then check off the box at the bottom labeled My server requires authentication. Without performing this step, you won't be able to send mail! |

| This walks you through creating a mail account
to access a mailbox on our system using Netscape Messenger. It is assumed that you have
already created a user profile. The procedure should be almost identical if you are creating a
profile for the first time. You need to go into the user profiles program to do this. From your desktop, click on Start, Programs, Netscape Communicator, Utilities, User Profile Manager. |

We're going to have to create a new user profile for the new e-mail settings. Once the new profile is created, you may want to come back in here and delete the old one. For now, we'll leave it there. Click on the New button. This brings up a windows labeled Creating a New Profile. Click on the Next button. | |

Enter your full name in the first box (I.E. John Doe), then enter your e-mail address in the second box. Your e-mail address will be your username followed by @bxohio.net. Using our example, your e-mail address would be jdoe@bxohio.net. Click on the Next button. | |

In the first box, give your profile a descriptive name. Perhaps your username (jdoe) would be appropriate. Leave the default in the second box and click on the Next button. | |

Enter mail.bxohio.net for the Outgoing Mail Server. Click on the Next button. | |

Enter your username for the Mail Server User Name. Enter mail.bxohio.net for the Incoming Mail Server. Select POP3 as the Mail Server Type. Click on the Next button. | |

We're not setting up a newsgroup server, so don't change
anything on this window and click on the Finish button. That's it! You're ready to try it out. |
